Paint Mixing

In two locations in Japan, we have opened "Color Centers", our own paint mixing factories. By working with paint manufacturers to mix paints, we deliver high-quality paints at the time and in the quantities you need.

We have set up "Color Centers" as contracted factories for the Nippon Paint Group, where we conduct paint mixing and shipping. Color Centers are staffed by paint mixing technicians who rigorously inspect the mixed paint with various measuring equipment. This realizes thorough color control.
Even after paint supply has begun, our Sales Division reflects customer needs in paint mixing. We support smooth and stable operation of the customer's painting line with both painting technology and paint.

Uchigen's Color Centers are located in western Shizuoka Prefecture and southern Saitama Prefecture, where manufacturing is thriving. By mixing paint in locations close to the customers who will actually use it, we are able to provide a fast and stable supply of paint. Our unique delivery infrastructure allows for a flexible response to changes in customers' production plan.

Uchigen has a large number of "paint mixing technicians" (holding certifications from the national government), and has a system in place to allow for paint mixing to be done in-house.
In order to obtain this certification, one must have at least three years of practical experience, and pass a skills test and a written test. In the skills test, the test taker must complete a number of tasks related to color mixing within a time limit. This is a very practical test that begins with mixing paint for color swatches, then painting the surface with the paint the test taker has made, and then the test admininstrator judges the finished product. The written test requires a wide range of knowledge about paints and painting, and it is a high hurdle that cannot be passed unless the test taker has both knowledge and experience. At Uchigen Color Centers, experts who have passed the test indirectly support customers' painting lines.
